[CURRICULUM VITAE]

  在國科會長達十四年 (1998-2011) 的贊助下,本人得以成為國內人文地理學界中,少數進行移地田野研究之學者。期間經歷了包含投入兩年於中國大陸,多年在澳洲與紐西蘭,並於近年開始在英國及加拿大進行的研究。最近,本人更分別完成中華民國僑務委員會及加拿大國際發展研究中心 (International Council for Canadian Studies) 委託之計畫,進行了對旅居澳洲之臺灣人之調查,以及旅居加拿大之臺灣人的深度訪談研究。

  社會地理學為本人主要研究的次領域,此外也從事人口地理學一些傳統的研究議題。本人的研究興趣在於身處不同情境下的移民,同時也特別關注性別的面向。本人的著作、教學與服務,主要涵蓋三個範疇。首先,在1985年,本人為臺大人口與性別研究中心婦女研究室之共同創辦人之一,同時擔任該中心之主任。本人並於1997年國科會東亞區域研究社會科學部分,擔任「人文地理學門」召集人。在一年之後,在臺灣大學擔任「澳洲研究小組」(Interdisciplinary Group of Australian Studies,IGAS) 之召集人。1998~2001年期間,本人開設「新世紀多元文化澳洲」之課程,邀請多位來自澳洲的講者以英文授課,三年來共有一百九十位學生選課。基於這樣的開創性,本人於2001年榮獲校及院級之優良教師獎。其次,本人曾舉辦澳洲相關研究研討會,出版三本專輯 (Monograph),並於1998年帶領十位來自臺灣不同大學的教授至澳洲參與「專業發展計畫」(Professional Development Program);於2002年,帶領十一位學生至墨爾本大學參與「英語與文化課程」(English and Cultural Program )。2000到2010年間,本人於國內、外的期刊發表多篇有關臺灣移民的學術論文,包含International Migration、Asian Journal of Women's Studies、Asian and Pacific Migration Journal、GeoJournal、Pacific Affairs、Social and Cultural Geography、Gender, Place and Culture 以及Geography Research Forum等。著作內容的議題廣泛,如:臺灣移民居住地流動、就業、年輕第二代移民、年輕回流移民,以及跨國家庭與女性的角色、早期臺灣移民等。這些不同議題的論文曾多次在國內外會議上發表或受邀到課堂上演講。本人對於臺灣移民海外的研究成果不僅常在國際上被引用為參考文獻,同時亦常提供決策者作為參考之用。

  第二,本著對於臺灣社會環境的關懷,促使本人在研究上朝向自然環境與臺灣人口之關係之研究。於2002~2006年間,發表了一篇 期刊論文與兩本專書內的文章討論臺灣的客家族群與環境。同時,本人也曾參與反對美濃水庫興建的運動、多次撰寫抗議書至英文報紙,以及在1998~2000年之間參與民間的抗議活動。本人相信所有的人文地理學研究皆應與社會保持緊密的關聯,在全球或地方的尺度上,透過對少數族群的尊重與關懷協助建立一個更美好的世界。最後,性別與地理學為本人的第三個研究範疇,始終存在,並銘刻於個人所有的出版、會議論文、課程講授,以及給予學生的指導之中。
