This event is to organize a contemporary debate on social and chemical affinities by reader of Peter Adey’s “Air Affinities: Geopolitics, Chemical Affect and the Force of the Elemental” (in Dialogue in Human Geography 2015). The article written by Adey is regarded as a most cutting-edge conceptual publication that brings volume geography, chemical geography, and political and social geography together to understand complex physical and spiritual entanglement between human and air, sky, wind and atmosphere. Participants are expected to read the article prior to the event and bring at least one empirical story or theoretical question as a basis for discussion.
Adey, P. (2015). Air’s affinities: Geopolitics, chemical affect and the force of the elemental.
