演講大綱: During the past three decades the number of countries relocating their capital cities has increased. Forward-cities is a term used for newly-created capital cities that for a number of reasons a country’s leader/leadership decide to effectively replace the more traditional capital city. The topic has been largely ignored by geographers and social scientists, but in recent years interest has increased among policy makers, predominantly from developing economies. Since 2003 I have increased my research and published on the subject. This presentation will provide an explanation of the concept, the several reasons why such an important decision is made, and the ramifications of such decisions. A number of examples of Forward Cities in a variety of geographic settings will be provided. |
