內容摘要：We will discuss several types of random walk problems in connection with ranking and searching in the Web graph. Needless to say, these random walks are quite useful for dealing with numerous problems arising in general networks, such as biological, social and communication networks.

學經歷及簡介：金芳蓉教授是加州聖地牙哥數學系 Paul Erdos 講座教授及電算系教授，也是美國藝術與科學院院士。她1970年畢業於臺大數學系，1974年獲得賓州大學博士學位，曾在AT&T貝爾實驗室任職，負責有關數學、信息科學與運籌學部門。其研究興趣主要是在圖論、組合數學和算法設計，她的研究在巨量數據，信息網絡，社群網絡及生物網絡的分析有非常重要的應用。
