Location 地理系館 305教室
講者: Dr. Nathalie Boucher
演講大綱:

I am interested in the uses of the hot springs as social places where people mingle and interact. More precisely, my aim is to explore the changes Taipei residents might have experienced regarding their access and their use of the hot springs since the 1990s, when major privatization policies started to be implemented. In which way those policies affected the uses and perception of hot springs? To answer this question, I will study public space use in the Taipei area, with a focus on the hot springs of Beitou. I will also conduct interviews with Beitou residents and non-residents. This work will shed light on the need of hot springs users towards this facility and it will help planned management structures and policies regarding the social uses of water.
