本計劃是上一個新進人員隨到隨審計劃「邊境裡的跨國地景：泰北金三角的華人移民、茶葉生產與地方建構」的延續。相較於上一個計劃以地方建構為討論核心，本計劃把焦點延伸到泰北邊境華人社群裡自然社會關係的變動。
更具體的說，本研究更深入的關照台灣對泰北金三角邊境的農業技術轉移，包括茶葉種植與溫帶水果等，與中國的資金投入，如何形塑跨境連結中地方、人與環境關係的轉變。 本計劃以政治生態學為研究取徑，來解讀泰北罌粟到茶葉轉植引發的再區域化過程。這讓關於金三角地區的邊境空間解讀，也就是泰北作為「國家前沿」與泰北作為「農業前沿」，有了交集式的重新理解。也因此與地理學對「前沿」的討論有更多的理論對話。「前沿」是「中介空間」（in-between space）也是「連結空間」（connected space）；也就是說，泰北農技轉移與茶葉轉植是物質化台灣、泰國和中國三方國家力量的跨境競合；同時茶葉轉植的技術與茶種等也是把金三角從戰地與毒品貿易轉化成跨境市場經濟的必要非人因子之一；藉此，本計劃讓目前對泰北華人社群的研究有了開創性的論點與研究方向。
